Heatwave - Central Heating (1977)

GTO - GTLP 027
1977
-----

2. Send Out For Sunshine
3. Central Heating
4. Happiness Togetherness
5. The Groove Line
6. Mind Blowing Decisions
7. The Star Of The Story

I keep sayin’ it – but I bloody love Heatwave and this is one of their strongest albums lovingly remastered for your audible pleasure. The engineering and sound design is something else – and I just CANNOT stop playing Party Poops or the title track! This is the second Heatwave album I’ve brought to the Shipwreck’s shores after CANDLES and I hope to bring Too Hot To Handle to you guys soon as well! Party party party!

Liz Damon With The Orient Express - Me Japanese Boy (I Love You) (1973)

* REUPLOADED IN BETTER, MORE AWESOME QUALITY*

Delilah - DS 1003
1973
1. Me Japanese Boy (I Love You)
2. Sugar
3. There'll Come A Time
4. Again
5. There's No Such Thing As Love
6. Little Song
7. I'm A Song
8. What Have They Done To The Moon
9. You Are The Sunshine Of My Life
10. You Haven't Seen My Love
11. I Never Had It So Good

-
Trust me when I say that this LP is rarer than rare, and it cost me the most I've paid on eBay that's for sure!! The brilliant soft-op lounge tones of Liz Damon, performing "Me Japanese Boy", one of my favourite Bacharach/David obscure hits as well as a host of others. The songbook of Neil Sedaka crops up a few times, and this is half-hour of pure smokey lounge gold. Enjoy! You won't find this on CD anywhere!

Paul McCartney - Wings Greatest (1978)

MPL - PCTC 256
1978
1. Another Day
2. Silly Love Songs
3. Live And Let Die
4. Junior’s Farm
5. With A Little Luck
6. Band On The Run
7. Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey
8. Hi, Hi, Hi
9. Let ‘Em In
10. My Love
11. Jet
12. Mull Of Kintyre
-
This is not really required but I am having a big Macca kick at the moment - I was working in the States and managed to see him in concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago and so I dug this out!! Wings are SO UNDERRATED it hurts - they'll get their day again soon. This is an interesting selection - leaving out lots of quality numbers in favour of some obscure cuts - such as the BRILLIANT Junior's Farm.

Jack Jones - Bewitched MONO (1964)

London - HA-R 8202

1964
1. Love With The Proper Stranger
2. The Mood I'm In
3. Bewitched
4. Right As The Rain
5. Luck Be A Lady
6. Far Away

8. I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face
9. I'm Old Fashioned

This is another classic Jack Jones album that has brilliant numbers such as "The Mood I'm In" and "Bewitched". This is in original mono and as far as I know the album hasn't been released on CD in any version - and if it has it's long-deleted now! Enjoy some lounge crooning from the master Jack Jones!

Wham! - Fantastic (1983)

EPIC - EPC 25328
1983
1. Bad Boys
2. A Ray Of Sunshine
3. Love Machine
4. Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do)
5. Club Tropicana
6. Nothing Looks The Same In The Light
7. Come On!
8. Young Guns (Go For It!)

There are so many George Michael and Wham! hits that you forget about this brilliant effort from 1983 that is slick, hooktastic and very, very poppy! I have been playing Love Machine all week and I feel that maybe it's time that Wham! were back in vogue. This album is nearly thirty years old already! Wow!

Burt Bacharach - Living Together (1973)

A&M - SP-3527 1973
1. Something Big
2. Monterey Peninsula
3. I Come To You
4. Walk The Way You Talk
5. The Balance Of Nature
6. Living Together, Growing Together
7. Reflections
8. Lost Horizon
9. Lost Ago Tomorrow
10. I Might Frighten Her Away
-

This is such an obscure and yet very awesome album by Sir Burt of Bacharach! Some gorgeous arrangements to his standards at the time, consisting of many songs that featured (in different recordings) on the Lost Horizon soundtrack. The world started to turn away from Burt at this time, but that doesn't mean this should be overlooked! Let me know what you think!

Thanks to a great tip by deGallo I decided to check out Click Repair as a tool for remastering last night and after some experimenting have found it to be amazing!

Last night I remastered these five albums using it:

Twiggy - Twiggy
Paul Williams - A Little Bit Of Love
Heatwave - Candles
Liz Damon - Me Japanese Boy I Love You
Jack Jones - A Song For Us

And I listened to all of them today and the results were brilliant! It means I can push out albums to you guys much quicker now!

All of the above albums will be released here this weekend!

The Mike Sammes Singers - Smooth (1964)

Music For Pleasure - MFP Stereo 1372
1964

1. This Could Be The Start of Something Big
2. The Surrey With The Fringe On Top
3. The Stolen Hours
4. Things Are Swingin'
5. There'll Always Be Another Spring
6. Something's Gotta Give
7. Guys And Dolls
8. The Girl From Ipanema
9. To Wait For Love (Is To Waste Your Life Away)
10. The Second Time Around
11. Lollipops And Roses
12. Limehouse Blues
-
I'm pretty obsessed with the Mike Sammes Singers - a band who have backed everyone (even The Beatles!) and after spending hours playing Sounds Sensational I have been seeking out their other efforts. This is almost a good - with some cracking, quirky, doo-wappy babba-doobey numbers. Hope you enjoy it. Remastered to sparkling detail and never available on CD!

Liz Damon - Liz Damon's Orient Express Volume II (1971)

7. Try a Little Tenderness
8. Where You Lead
9. (Where Do I Begin) Love Story [Theme from Love Story]
10. All in All
-
Liz Damon's debut album Liz Damon's Orient Express was a big earner for the last efforts of the White Whale label, and here is Volume II, containing some strong numbers from the Hawaiian lounge singer. I could listen to this sort of soft-pop all day, and this is quite rare so snap it up!

I'm dispensing with FLAC / GrooveShark

Sorry Lossless fans! Looking at the download numbers - it's clear that FLAC is too much overhead compared to return - so for now I will be distributing albums in Lame 320kbps CBR mp3 only. If you are desperate enough for an album in FLAC and write to me nicely - I'm sure I could be persuaded depending on my mood.

Grooveshark - is flaky as a website - it appears box.net is the solution!

Editorial blah blah

Been busy later - sorry!
Was VIP at Glastonbury festival and work / real life shizzle to take care of.

Bobbie Gentry - Touch 'Em With Love (Mono)
Paul Williams - A Little Bit Of Love
Liz Damon - Liz Damon Orient Express II
Liz Damon - Me Japanese Boy
Alan Moorhouse - Beatles, Bach, Bacharach Go Bossa Nova

Plus lots more!!!! Keep the feedback coming!

Cheryl Ladd - Dance Forever
Liz Damon - Orient Express II

Phil Collins - No Jacket Required (1985)

Virgin - V2345
1985
1. Sussudio
2. Only You Know And I Know
3. Long Long Way To Go
4. I Don't Wanna Know
5. One More Night
6. Don't Lose My Number
7. Who Said I Would
8. Doesn't Anybody Stay Together Anymore
9. Inside Out
10. Take Me Home
-
Phil Collins gets a bad rap, but this album is pure high-drenaline eighties synth-pop WOW!! Trust me and download it. Aside from mega hit Sussudio, why not check out the brooding ballad (featuring Sting) Long Long Way To Go or the Hall and Oates-style Don't Lose My Number. This is Collin's best album - available here in pure eighties' analogue WONDERNESS.

7. Lonely Hearts
8. Old Souls
9. Ordinary Fool
10. Soul Rest

Another quality mid-seventies effort from the master of pop/rock singer-songwriter Paul Williams. In my opinion nothing is as good as the title track in these choices of cuts, but there are only gains to be had by downloading the full album!

Meco - Ewok Celebration (1983)

Arista - AL8-8098
1983
1. Ewok Celebration (From "Return Of The Jedi")
2. Lapti Nek (From "Return Of The Jedi")
3. Themes From "Star Wars"
4. Nights Are Forever (From "Twilight Zone - The Movie")
5. Theme From "Simon And Simon"
6. Maniac (From "Flashdance")
7. Love Theme (From "Superman III")
8. Themes (From "Wargames")
-
Quite a curious album here - Meco, clinging on to the last days of synthesizer pop and the last of the then Star Wars films releases Ewok Celebration, and it's better than you'd think! Aside from the quirky title track, there are great versions of "Maniac" and "Wargames". This is quite rare now, so snap it up fellow Vinyl castaways!

Jack Jones - Nobody Does It Better (1979)

* REUPLOADED IN BETTER AWESOME QUALITY *

Polydor - 2383 547
1979
1. The Love Boat
2. Evergreen
3. Silver Lady
4. Nobody Does It Better
5. Quiet Please, There's A Lady On Stage
6. Wives And Lovers
7. I Could Have Been A Sailor
8. Just The Way You Are
9. My Eyes Adored You
10. Ready To Take A Chance Again
-
This is one of my most-listened-to vinyl albums of the last few weeks, as it catches lounge crooner Jack Jones brilliant in a latter-seventies disco-pop moment in time, in which era-motifs of "The Love Boat" are suitably balanced by a splendid six-minute disco version of the classic Bacharach/David hit "Wives And Lovers" (which Jack himself made famous years earlier). Granted, this album is not for everyone's taste - but it appeals to me a great deal!

The Beatles - Different Channels [A RaphPH Bootleg]

Here's something a bit different - a new Beatles Bootleg revealed exclusively here on Vinyl Shipwreck!
I mixed these tracks myself from the original Beatles Rock Band multitracks! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and for me (even if I did mix them myself) this is like having a new Beatles album!

Check out the samples

Album: Different Channels [A RaphPH Bootleg]
Artist: The Beatles
Year: 2011
Format: FLAC / 320 LAME mp3 CBR

Liner Notes
-----------
All tracks mixed from original Rock Band multitrack masters.
Nothing from original songs have been altered except left/right panning and track volume
*Except "Don't Let Me Down" whereby I fixed an obvious Billy Preston keyboard mistake around 2"00
I've added an unfixed version of "Don't Let Me Down" for purists
LET ME KNOW YOUR FEEDBACK!!!

1. Don't Let me Down
--------------------
Really brought out Billy Preston's excellent keyboard skills in the mix

2. Get Back
-----------
The most subtle of all the mixes in terms of change - just gave it a raw punch

3. Getting Better
-----------------
Brought out all of the instruments you wouldn't normally pick up on and faded the guitar out

4. Here Comes The Sun
---------------------
Made Synth more prominent and pushed the bass out more

5. I've Got A Feeling
---------------------
Already two mixes of this song released - so wanted to focus on Billy's keyboard playing again

6. Revolution
-------------
A powerful stereo mix separating the excellent distorted Guitar parts for the first time.

7. Dig A Pony
-------------
Separated to each channel the bass and guitar and left Billy's Keyboard in the centre.

8. She's Leaving Home
---------------------
This is a string mix - the vocals are less in front in favour of lush orchestration

9. Birthday
-----------
Focused more on the bass and a more stereo version

10. With A Little Help From My Friends
--------------------------------------
A stronger guitar mix and removed the "Billy Shears" cheer at the beginning

11. Helter Skelter
------------------
Blistering bass mix and pushed Paul's vocals up more

12. When I'm 64
---------------
Brought out the twee instrumentation and made it a cleaner channel mix

13. Hello Goodbye
-----------------
Just focused on all of the secondary insruments and buried the vocals slightly

14. Don't Let Me Down (Bonus)
---------------------
Same mix as above - but left the Billy Preston mistake unfixed

15. She's Leaving Home (Bonus)
------------------------------
Same mix as above - but changed speed to match original Mono Version

16. Don't Let Me Down (Mono)
----------------------------
Mono version of above mix
